Our Coffee Talk interview today is with a fabulous past bride, Rachel. I was so in love with her and her wedding ideas from the moment we met. Rachel even ended up designing her own invitations and they fit the wedding perfectly. We ended up designing a fabulous street fair for their after party. It was was one those wedding that I wish I was a guest at, everyone was having a great time.

Tell us a little about your wedding style? “a colorful vintage summer fair”. We were getting married in August, and fearing the heat, I wanted to embrace my favorite thing about summer: fairs, complete with games and cotton candy. And I have a weakness for anything old, vintage and rusty, so finding a venue with a historic, feel was key.
Favorite detail of your wedding? Oh that’s a tough one to choose! I’m going with the cake toppers. They were totally adorable, and we’ll be able to keep them always. I was also entertained at the time how I couldn’t show them to my husband before the wedding, because then I would have ruined the what-is-she-wearing surprise!
Most memorable part of your wedding day? That’s easy: the dessert fair in the courtyard. I think even the people who knew it was coming had not expected it to be what it was. It was the best, relaxing, festive way to cap the evening, and everyone stayed and mingled for hours after wedding was supposed to end. We’ll never forget it.
Why did you choose Atrendy for your wedding? For most people, your wedding is the first “event” you’ve ever planned. You’ve probably never hired a caterer, a band, a lighting company, etc, before. It quickly can become a lot to balance. I had a very clear idea in my head of what style I was going for, and wanted to have a lot of fun dealing with the styling/crafting/designing of the day, but knew I needed help with all the organizational details, and finding the right vendors to make my ideas happen. Meeting Pam, I knew she understood my vision, we could bond over silly things like color swatches and the underrated decorative qualities of burlap. And at the end of the day, she had the experience to take away my apprehensions dealing with contracts and coordinating with the vendors. The day of the wedding, I barely even saw her, but I knew she and her elves were making it all work out!
If you could give one word of advice to a couple what would it be?Talk with your fiancé about what you’re thinking about and do new fun things together. It’s easy to make your entire life about planning the wedding, so remember to do things not remotely wedding related together! Have a spontaneous movie night, get brunch out on a Sunday, take a random weekday off for a field trip somewhere new, have a dinner date with friends. And most importantly: keep doing that after the wedding!
